My Leadership Principles
- Curiosity uncovers reality.
- Transparency creates trust.
- Confidence comes from clarity, not certainty.
- Technology exists to enable business strategy.
- Commercial outcomes outweigh technical elegance.
- Capability compounds over time.
- Leaders create environments where people perform at their best.
- Strong leaders leave organisations stronger than they found them.
My thinking about Execution Muscle began at REA Group, where I watched a fast-growing technology company discover that exceptional engineering alone wasn't enough to keep scaling successfully. As the business grew, it became clear that great engineering wasn't the bottleneck anymore - coordinating people, priorities and delivery was. I helped build that - stronger delivery leadership, sharper prioritisation, a real operating rhythm. By the time I left, the team had grown fourfold, but more importantly, the organisation had developed the capability to keep scaling with confidence.
That experience shaped a belief I've carried into every leadership role since: execution capability isn't just a technology capability. It's a capability every organisation needs, full stop - not just the tech ones.
Years later at Kolmeo, I joined a business where predictability appeared to be the problem and board confidence in technology had fallen to the point of weekly steering committees. What I found was something different. Predictability wasn't the problem—it was the symptom. The real issue was organisational alignment. That insight became the foundation of what I now call Execution Muscle.
Since then — through transformations, scaling delivery teams, modernising platforms — it's always come back to the same thing: helping organisations execute with confidence.
My leadership style is straightforward. I'm calm under pressure, direct when it matters, and more interested in understanding what's true than protecting a plan that no longer reflects reality. I believe governance exists to improve decisions, not create process, and that transparency creates trust.
Outside my executive roles, I've been a leader in the queer community, serving on a number of boards - most recently as pro bono CIO for The Pinnacle Foundation. Their mission is changing young people's lives through scholarships and mentoring, and it was a chance to put technology to work for something that mattered directly.
Everything on this site comes from one belief.
Helping organisations build that - building Execution Muscle - has become the work I care about.
How we could work together
There are a few ways this could go, depending on what you need.
If you want a second pair of eyes on a specific problem, I offer strategic advisory and consulting.
If your organisation needs execution capability built and no one's free to lead it, I take on short-term contracts.
And if it's the right match on both sides, I'm open to a permanent role.
Different starting points, same first step: let's have a conversation.
